New Coronavirus Case Reported In Haddon Township

HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Haddon Township man in his 50s is among an additional 83 cases of new coronavirus that were reported in Camden County, officials said on Saturday. The county total is now 1,175.

The number of county cases was one fewer than the 84 cases reported countywide on Friday. Trace investigations are underway in all new cases. For the second straight day, no deaths were reported in the county, leaving the fatality total at 29.

“We are extremely pleased to hear of no new deaths in Camden County related to coronavirus for the second consecutive day, and that our growth in cases stayed largely consistent with what we saw yesterday. These positive trends continue to be thanks to the residents of Camden County and their commitment to stopping the spread of this disease,” Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. said. “This weekend will be a critical point in this battle. If we keep focused and maintain social distancing, we will see more positive developments like those we have seen in recent days. But, if we take our eye off the ball and try to bend the rules, we will reverse course and start heading backwards. It is not easy to be apart from family during this holiday weekend, but we must make sacrifices today if we are to ensure our health and happiness tomorrow. Staying home saves lives, and it’s our best weapon to break the back of this virus and get back to normal.”

How It Spreads

The virus that causes COVID-19 is spreading from person-to-person. Someone who is actively sick with COVID-19 can spread the illness to others. That is why CDC recommends that these patients be isolated either in the hospital or at home (depending on how sick they are) until they are better and no longer pose a risk of infecting others.

There is currently no vaccine for COVID-19.

While the best way to prevent illness is to avoid virus exposure, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention always recommends taking preventive actions to contain the spread of viruses. This includes:

• Stay home when you are sick.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipes.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
