NJ Teacher's Aide Sent Explicit Photos To Teens On Snapchat: Officials

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, NJ — A former Cumberland County teacher's aide faces multiple charges after prosecutors said he used Snapchat to receive pornographic photos from two high school students and send them sexually explicit images of himself.

Ryan C. Johnson, 47, of Hopewell Township, was arrested and charged with multiple counts of child endangerment, possession of child pornography, and lewdness following the incidents, the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office said.

According to prosecutors, Johnson worked at Cumberland Regional High School as a teacher's aide when he shared sexually explicit photographs with two juvenile victims in July and August of 2023. Prosecutors said Johnson also received and viewed an image depicting child pornography.

Prosecutors said Johnson worked as a teacher's aide during the 2022-2023 school year. Both victims were students at the school during the same period.

Authorities said Johnson was not employed with the district when the incidents occurred.

Prosecutors said Johnson also worked at Bridgeton High School during the fall of 2023 and Hopewell Crest Elementary School between September 2019 and June 2022.

Johnson was taken to Cumberland County Jail pending a detention hearing.
