Police Seek Help Identifying Suspect in Fatal Shooting

A 36-year-old Camden man was shot in the City's Parkside neighborhood Wednesday evening.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance video in an attempt to identify a suspect in a fatal shooting in Camden that took place Wednesday evening, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson said Thursday morning.

Camden County Police officers on patrol in the city’s Parkside neighborhood heard gunfire shortly before 6:20 p.m. and responded to the area of Park Boulevard and Empire Avenue.

The officers found 36-year-old Thaddeus Pitts, of Camden, lying on the sidewalk on the 1100 block of Empire Avenue. He had been shot multiple times.

Pitts was transported by ambulance to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where he was pronounced dead at 6:56 p.m.

Detectives are also working to develop a motive in the shooting.
