Police Seek South Jersey Man Charged in Fatal Stabbing of Ex-Girlfriend

Michael Eitel has been charged in the death of Carol Browne.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in finding a South Jersey man who has been charged with the fatal stabbing of his ex-girlfriend.

Michael Eitel, 45, of Berlin Township, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 39-year-old Carol Bowne, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Berlin Township Police Chief Leonard Check said Thursday afternoon.

Browne had an active restraining order against Eitel.

A warrant for Eitel’s arrest was issued on Thursday. He is being sought by a U.S. Marshals Service Task Force. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.

Berlin Township Police found Browne lying in the driveway of her home on the 100 block of Patton Avenue with multiple stab wounds around 10:17 p.m. after responding to a 9-1-1 call about an assault.

Bowne was transported to Virtua Hospital in Berlin, where she was pronounced dead from her injuries at 11:22 p.m.
