Portrait Immortalizes Former Ocean City Library Director, Haddonfield Native
A portrait of Christopher Maloney was unveiled on Monday, the Ocean City Gazette reports.

Former Ocean City Library Director and Haddonfield resident Christopher Maloney has been immortalized in one of the places he loved most.
A portrait of Maloney was unveiled in the newly christened Christopher Maloney Lecture Hall on Monday, the Ocean City Gazette reports.
Maloney’s mother Barbara, fighting back tears, was on hand. She relayed how much her son loved that building, according to the report.

Linwood artist Nancy Palermo, who worked with Christopher Maloney on a mural of people reading books on the beach, painted the portrait, according to The Press of Atlantic City.
Acting Library Director Leslie Clark, of Galloway, called Maloney “a great librarian,” who was “instrumental” in the transformation of the library building, according to The Press.

Maloney died suddenly on New Year’s Eve at the age of 45 in his Somers Point home.
Maloney was born in Haddonfield. He attended Paul VI High School and Holy Family University in Philadelphia. He received his masters degree in library science from the University of Buffalo.
He worked at the Ocean City Free Public Library for 15 years and was director since 2003.
