Primary Day 2017: Who's On The Ballot, Where To Vote In Camden County
Tuesday, June 6, is also the final day to register as an independent candidate, and unaffiliated voters can vote in the primaries.

Primary Day is typically the least exciting day on the election calendar, but that has changed recently, particularly on the Democratic side. Following last year’s contentious Democratic Presidential Primary between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, there are multiple Democratic primaries across Camden County this year. Polls are open from 6 a.m.-8 p.m.
At the county level, Freeholders Louis Cappelli Jr. and Jonathan Young are running for re-election. They face a total of five challengers in Tuesday’s primary, including Suzanne Shourds, Debra Lonsdale, Robert Beare, Mary Ann Dunn and Kathryn Petner. Keith Cybulski and Nicole Nance are running unopposed on the Republican side.
Three Democrats are running for the General Assembly. Louis Greenwald, Pamela Lampitt and Frederick Dande are running for a pair of open seats. Republicans Winston Extavour and David Moy will run unopposed.

The Democratic Primary features former U.S. Ambassador to Germany Phil Murphy, former U.S. Treasury Under Secretary Jim Johnson, State Sen. Ray Lesniak, State Assemblyman John Wisniewski, Tenfaly City Councilman Mark Zinna and law school graduate Bill Brennan.
Tuesday at 4 p.m. is also the deadline for candidates to file independent bids to run for public office.
Unaffiliated voters can vote in Tuesday’s primaries by showing up at the polls and registering with the party of the primary in which they intend to vote. Voters can change their affiliation back after the election is over.
