Small Format Target Coming To Haddon Township Next Summer

The store is designed for a "quicker shopping experience."

HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A fun sized Target store is coming to Haddon Township. Actually, it’s called a “small-format” store, and the retail chain announced its plans to open one locally on Tuesday, according to published reports.

The small format Target will be about 48,000 square feet, and is slated to open in July of 2018, according to the Courier Post. It will be the first small format Target in South Jersey. It will be located in the Westmont Plaza at Cuthbert and MacArthur boulevards.

The smaller stores are designed to offer a "quick-trip shopping experience," according to nj.com. They cater more directly to the needs of the locals, and Target plans to open 130 of them by the end of 2019. There are already 36 operating, including one in Bergen County and one that will open soon in Parsippany.

A spokesperson for Target told njpen.com that Haddon Township is perfect fit for the smaller store, which is typically built in towns with an urban downtown, densely populated neighborhoods and college campuses. The new store could bring with it a total of 75 new jobs.
