Solar Eclipse 2017: Driving Tips, Where To Watch In Haddonfield
The Haddonfield Public Library will host a Solar Eclipse party on Monday, Aug. 21.

HADDONFIELD, NJ — A Solar Eclipse is coming, and Haddonfield residents can see the whole thing unfold at their local library. It will be a partial Solar Eclipse, with 73 percent coverage at its peak in New Jersey.
During the party, the library will have special viewing glasses that will enable onlookers to stare directly at the sun. An area of the lawn will also be marked off so that residents can get their best view of this amazing event.
The party is Monday, Aug. 21, 1 p.m.-4 p.m. at the Haddonfield Public Library, 60 Haddon Avenue in Haddonfield.

Registration is required, and participants must comply with instructions from the library’s staff due to the risks associated with looking at the sun.
Special guest star Matthew DiDonato from Haddonfield Memorial High School will be on hand to answer questions about the eclipse. To register, or for more information, visit haddonfieldlibrary.org.

Additionally, the Gloucester Township Police Department provided the following tips for driving during the Solar Eclipse:
- Do not attempt to watch the solar eclipse while driving! The better option is to find a safe place to park, and then observe the eclipse.
- Put the sun visor down to block the view.
- Drive safely. Eagerness to view the eclipse is not an acceptable reason to drive aggressively or while distracted.
- Drive with your headlights on. Not only will you be much more visible to other drivers, your forward vision will be improved.
- Watch out for pedestrians! There may be many people standing in or along the roadway watching the eclipse.
- Be alert to the possibility of distracted drivers swerving into your lane.
- Other drivers may be attempting to watch the eclipse and drive at the same time.
- To help prevent trouble, keep additional space between you and other vehicles.
- Reduce your speed so you will have more time to make an emergency maneuver if needed.
- DO NOT Wear Eclipse Glasses While Driving
