South Jersey Man Admits to Child Sex Assault

Charles J. Ware, 20, pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree sexual assault.

A Deptford man admitted to engaging in oral sex with a girl under the age of 13 in Mantua Township in September and October of 2013, the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office announced this week.

Charles J. Ware, 20, pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree sexual assault.

Ware faces seven years in New Jersey state prison, and would have to serve 85 percent of the sentence before he is eligible for parole. He will also be subject to conditions of Megan’s Law for sex offenders and at least 15 years supervised release.

Sentencing is deferred until Ware is evaluated at the state’s Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center, a facility for sex offenders in Avenel.

The evaluation can determine whether a defendant is treated at Avenel while serving a sentence.

Ware has been in jail in default of $150,000 bail since his arrest on Oct. 26, 2013.
