South Jersey's Memorial Day Heroes: Share Your Stories With Patch

Take a moment to tell us about your family members who served as we mark this national holiday.

While it’s easy to get caught up in all the hype of the start of the summer season, we at the Patch would like to take a moment to remember why Memorial Day exists: to honor those who gave their lives in service to our country.

Patch is asking readers to share stories about their family and friends who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

From Cristina Gonzalez-Torres, of Cinnaminson:

Wilfredo Gonzalez was drafted by the Army in 1966. He fought in the Vietnam War in 1967. He served as a point guard. We are grateful to him and all veterans including the dogs who serve and protect our country!

Sumner N. Lippincott, of Millville, served in the U.S. Navy in Korea.

From Juan Rivera Jr., of Burlington:

Juan F. Rivera DeJesus, received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star while serving as a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1950-1975. (no photo available)
