Sunset Jazz Series Returns to Camden County for 25th Anniversary Season

The series features Kirk Franklin, Spyro Gyra and Michael McDonald, among others.

This year marks the 25th anniversary season of the Sunset Jazz series at Wiggins Waterfront Park, Camden County officials said on Thursday.

“Just in time for you to plan your summer fun, the guide will help you and your family to enjoy another great season of entertainment in Camden County’s parks,” Camden County Freeholder Deputy Director Ed McDonnell, liaison to the Camden County Department of Special Events, said. “Many events are free, with programming that will please everyone from toddlers to seniors. Whatever your interest – music, movies, sports or family entertainment – there’s something for everyone in Camden County’s Parks.”

Residents will find all the information their family needs for a season of no-cost or low-cost fun, including concerts, festivals, sporting events and programs for individuals with disabilities, officials said.

  • Lisa Loeb and the John Byrne Band at Haddon Lake Park’s Sundown Music Series;
  • The Fabulous Grease Band and Stan Wade’s Trammps performing as part of the On the Road Concert Series;
  • The City Rhythm Orchestra and Pure Prairie League as they take the stage of the Twilight Concert Series at Cooper River Park;
  • Kidzfest in Challenge Grove Park; and
  • The Starlight Movie Series, featuring Minions and Zootopia.

“We expect over 150,000 visitors to the Camden Waterfront this summer for events ranging from great entertainment like the Fourth of July Fireworks and Sunset Jazz Series to activities such as Workout on the Waterfront,” McDonnell said. “My colleagues on the Freeholder Board and I know how much residents enjoy the outdoors, and we strive to continually improve Camden County’s parks so that they provide maximum entertainment and fun for you and your family.”

At Challenge Grove Park, Jake’s Place is a playground where all children of all abilities can play together and Boundless Field hosts Miracle League Baseball games.

Sporting events, workshops and walks support multiple charities.

There are also bike and hiking trails, nature trails and “Bark in the Park” at the dog park in Timber Creek Park.

The green space of the Camden County Parks System offers over 2,000 acres of natural settings for picnics, family gatherings, sporting events, beautiful waterways for fishing and boating, a wealth of playgrounds and a variety of ball fields that are close to home.
