Thanksgiving Dinner Prepared at LIFE at Lourdes by Staff, Volunteers
Meal celebrated older adult participants and the extended family they have with LIFE at Lourdes staff
Pennsauken, NJ—For the second year in a row, Janice Green, an accountant at LIFE at Lourdes – a unique program that assists elders to live safely at home while providing them with a team of healthcare experts – organized Thanksgiving dinner for 100 people – including LIFE participants, their loved ones, and Lourdes staff, volunteers and their families. Green’s personal family celebrated as well.
Green, recipient of Lourdes’ 2013 Sister Elizabeth Corry Award for commitment to those in need, and her Lourdes team of 35 staff and volunteers transported participants to and from their homes, decorated, held raffles and sought donations to buy food, grocery shopped, prepared the food – including seven turkeys, served the meal and cleaned-up.
“Once again, hosting Thanksgiving gave the participants as much joy as it gave me,” said Green. “I hope to continue to do it every year. This is the spirit of giving and I want our LIFE participants to know how much we care about them. We are their extended family.”
