Unknown Shooter Kills Man, Wounds Another In South Jersey: Prosecutor

The homicide victim was found in the driver's seat of a vehicle.

VINELAND, NJ — An unknown shooter killed a man and wounded another Friday night in Vineland, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office.

The deceased victim — Mark Brown, 30, of Vineland — was found in the driver's seat of a vehicle. His passenger, a 34-year-old Vineland man, has been released from the hospital.

No arrests have been announced as of Tuesday morning.

Vineland police responded to reported gunshots at about 9:30 p.m. Friday on Southwest Boulevard, between Sherman and Grant avenues. At the scene, they found Brown inside a vehicle, where he was unresponsive after getting shot.

Brown was brought to Inspira Medical Center Vineland, where he was pronounced dead.

Police found Brown's passenger, who was also shot, at an adjacent property.

The prosecutor's office and Vineland police continue to investigate. Anyone with information can submit it anonymously to VPD.TIPS or CCPO.TIPS.
