YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties Hosts Gobbler Giving Event to Provide Holiday Meals

According to Feeding America, 1 in 7 Americans – more than 46 million people – rely on food pantries and meal service programs to feed themselves and their families. This year, the YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties is giving back to those who need it most through its inaugural Gobbler Giving event.

During the month of November, feathers will be available to purchase for $1, $5, $10 or $20 from the Welcome Centers at the Mt. Laurel YMCA or Burlington-Riverfront YMCA. Feathers can be decorated and will be used to decorate turkeys on display at each location.

Proceeds from the purchase of feathers will go directly toward providing holiday dinners for the families of the Y’s Women’s Opportunity Center (WOC) to ensure that everyone can have a happy and healthy holiday season.

The Women’s Opportunity Center assists women who have lost financial support due to separation, divorce, death or disability of a spouse and is committed to help women gain economic self-sufficiency through education, job readiness, networking, outreach, referrals and emotional support. The Center also promotes awareness of women’s rights and issues through public advocacy.

Donations can be made by purchasing a feather at the Y’s Mount Laurel Welcome Center, located at 59 Centerton Road, or at the Burlington-Riverfront Welcome Center, located at 302 Commerce Square Blvd. in Burlington. Feathers of $10 or more may be purchased online at www.ymca-bc.org.
