'Well-Known' Youth Coach Sexually Assaulted Boy In South Jersey: Police

Law enforcement advised the athletic organizations with whom he's affiliated and told anyone with info to contact police.

BRIDGETON, NJ — A "well-known" youth coach in South Jersey faces charges after sexually assaulting a boy, authorities said Monday.

Robert "Ronnie" Marino was charged July 4 with sexual assault of a minor and endangering the welfare of a child. The offenses against the 16-year-old victim occurred the day before at Marino's Nixon Avenue home, according to the Bridgeton Police Department.

"Detectives have advised the respective athletic associations that the suspect is affiliated with in a coaching capacity," said Police Chief Michael Gaimari Sr. "Thus far, this incident remains the only investigation we are conducting at this time."

Marino, 73, remains in the Cumberland County Jail. His detention hearing was postponed from Monday to Thursday.
