FOOTBALL: Aviators Comeback Stuns Bogota

Heights football keeps state playoff hopes alive

The Hasbrouck Heights football team was close to saying goodbye to thoughts of a state playoff bid Saturday.

The Aviators were behind Bogota for almost the entire game until running back Anthony Seidel dove over from two yards out with less than five minutes in the game in Bogota. Mike Schroback hit the point after to give the Aviators their first lead at 28-24.

The Hasbrouck Heights defense finally was able to put the clamps on Bucs running game of Edwin Fiscal and Rey Pela in the final few minutes. Seidel also had a one-yard touchdown run while quarterback Darren Iurato hit Mike Pikowski on a pair of touchdown passes, for 75-and-54-yard touchdown strikes.
