Adopt A Pet For Free At Bergen County Animal Shelter

The shelter is co-hosting the Clear the Shelters event with NBC News 4 Saturday.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Adopt a pet from the Bergen County Animal Shelter for free Saturday as part of NBC News 4 New York's Clear the Shelters initiative.

The shelter will waive adoption fees for all pets at the shelter. Adoption requirements will not be waived.

Potential adopters can get their application pre-approved and save time. No animals will be held for the event.

The shelter will be open from 1 to 5 p.m.

All of the shelter's animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped and current on their vaccines.

Adopters must be 21 or older and have photo identification. Out-of-state homeowners must present proof of property ownership, such as a tax bill. If a family is adopting, the entire family must be present. Dog owners must bring their pets for a meet and greet and current pet owners must provide a veterinarian reference.

The shelter is located at 100 United Lane in Teterboro.
