Fire Ravages IHOP On Route 17 In Hasbrouck Heights

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ — A fire tore through the IHOP on Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights on Monday morning, prompting road closures as firefighters worked to contain the blaze.

The Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department said the fire had been brought under control as of shortly before 9 a.m., but photos shared by the fire company showed severe damage to the building.

Route 17 South at Franklin Avenue remains closed, the fire department said.

The fire was reported shortly before 7 a.m., but details about the cause of the fire were not immediately available.

It was not known if the restaurant was occupied at the time of the fire. It usually opened at 7 a.m. but the IHOP website lists it as temporarily closed; it was unclear if that was a result of the fire.
