HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ — Pencils, notebooks and calculators are about to reclaim the kitchen table as Hasbrouck Heights students return to school next Tuesday for the 2026-27 academic year.
The opening week will be brief and every class day will be shortened. According to the district's revised calendar, students will have single-session days next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Schools will then close Friday through Monday for the Labor Day weekend.
New staff members will attend orientation Tuesday, while all staff will participate in professional development Wednesday and Thursday ahead of the students' arrival.
The schedule varies by grade. Pre-K and kindergarten students will attend from 8:20 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while first- through fifth-graders will be in class from 8:25 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. Middle and high school students will attend from 7:55 a.m. to 12:24 p.m.
Parents can find the calendar through the district website and check student information through the Genesis portal before the opening bell rings. Families may want to double-check transportation arrangements, schedules and opening-day instructions before students leave home.
