HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ — Former Hasbrouck Heights Councilman Russell Lipari, who spent years serving the borough in several roles, has died, borough officials announced.
Lipari served as a councilman for 12 years and held positions as police commissioner, fire commissioner and commissioner of the Board of Health, according to the Borough of Hasbrouck Heights.
He also served as senior citizen ombudsman, was an active member of the Planning Board and Board of Health and served as president of the Leisure Club.
"His unwavering commitment to Hasbrouck Heights and its residents was truly commendable," the borough said. "Russell will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him," the borough added.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m., located at Costa Memorial Home, at the intersection of Boulevard and Central Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights. A funeral liturgy will follow at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi R.C. Church, 260 Boulevard. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Lyndhurst. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
