Apple Picking Near Little Ferry: 4 Orchards To Visit This Fall
Apple season is underway, and four orchards are offering pick-your-own options for a fall outing.
LITTLE FERRY, NJ — Crisp apples, hayrides and other fall favorites are happening near Little Ferry, as apple-picking season gets into full swing at nearby orchards.
Demarest Farms in Hillsdale opened its 2026 pick-your-own apple season Aug. 29. The farm's general ripening schedule lists Empire, Freedom, Jonagold, Idared, Cameo, Pink Lady, Fuji, Evercrisp and Autumn Gala for early to mid-October. Winecrisp, Winesap, Mutsu/Crispin, Enterprise and Granny Smith are listed for mid- to late October.
Another option is Dr. Davies Farm in Congers, New York. The farm says its orchard has more than 5,000 trees and 27 apple varieties, though varieties and picking locations change during the season depending on ripeness and availability. Apple picking is cash only, so visitors should plan accordingly before heading to the orchard.

The farm also offers hayrides to its pumpkin patch and fall activity areas from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, with a corn maze and pumpkin picking among the options.
Farther into New York, Masker Orchards in Warwick opened for its 2026 season Sept. 5. The orchard says it is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until early November. Visitors can drive directly to the trees with their picnic gear and explore the 200-acre orchard while picking apples. The orchard currently lists varieties including Prime Red, Macintosh, McGowan, Cortland, Jonagold, Empire, Red Delicious, Sparta Macintosh, Golden Delicious, Romes and Mutsu as ripe for picking.

Pennings Cidery & Orchard East in Warwick offers pick-your-own apples, with more than 20 varieties available throughout the season. Apple picking is offered on weekends, with the 2026 season beginning Sept. 12. Reservations are required during peak weekends to guarantee entry. Visitors can also pick up fresh-picked apples, cider, cider doughnuts and other farm finds while they're visiting.
Availability can change as the season progresses, so check each orchard's website for current picking information before making the trip.
