Aviators Face Battle with Falcons, trounce Emerson

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS - The battle for the North Jersey Interscholastic Conference Meadowlands division will be Friday night at Depken Field.

      Both Hasbrouck Heights and Saddle Brook come into the game with a 5-0 records and the winner will certainly have a very big leg up on winning the division and also a better seed in the Group 1 North 1 state sectional playoffs.

      The Aviators have lost the last two years to the Falcons. Last season, Heights dropped a 37-7 decision to Saddle Brook at home and lost 21-0 at Saddle Brook in 2010.

      In terms of power points, Saddle Brook leads the Group 1 North 1 state section with 69 while Hasbrouck Heights is fourth with 63. Butler and Pompton Lakes are second and third with 67 and 64 points respectively.

      Against Emerson last week, Hasbrouck Heights was stunned in the opening minute as Emerson went a couple of plays to take a 6-0 lead to start the game.

      The Aviators though would get their feet underneath them and score 41 unanswered points on the road. Heights top running back Anthony Seidel scored three touchdowns while running for 122 yards on the ground. A.J. Traina added 113 rushing yards including a 46-yard touchdown run.
