Merchant Series: Pampering at Francesca's Nail Emporium & Spa
The Merchants Series features the businesses that take part in the Friends of the Hasbrouck Heights Library's Merchant Program.

“I see my salon as a tranquil place; a sanctuary in which one can escape from the stress and drudgery of everyday life,” states owner Francesca Petromilli, of Francesca's Nail Emporium and Spa. “What differentiates my salon from the others is the level of personalized service which has become my trademark. I believe in a very personal approach and really care about each and every one of my clients.
"At Francesca’s Nail Emporium and Spa, we take time to listen to clients whether
they are having a bad day or simply just need an safe place to talk; sometimes
it’s not just about the manicure.”
Francesca’s Nail Emporium & Spa is a full service salon that offers more than then the average manicure. Francesca and her staff will create a package that will meet your needs in your time schedule. There are full European manicures and pedicures, full sculpturing manicures, body waxing, therapeutic Swedish massages and a full Sothy’s deep European facial, all of which are designed to leave one feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
Francesca was born in Ancona, Italy, where she spent her early childhood before immigrating to the Greenwich Village section of New York City. The strong cultural and regional influences helped pique her appreciation for the beauty and cosmetics industry.

Upon completing both business and beauty school, she relocated to northern New Jersey, eventually settling with her husband and extended family in Hasbrouck Heights. This move led her to a life-changing business opportunity, the ownership of her salon.
“I always knew when I was growing up that I wanted to be in the beauty and skin-care business. My first work experience was at a salon here in Hasbrouck Heights called, Scruples Salon. I loved the work and the clients but I really wanted was to open my own salon. When I found my current location I felt it was time,” Francesca explained.

Twenty-six years later, she successfully remains the sole owner and proprietor of Francesca’s Nail Emporium and Spa.
“People have asked me what the secret to my longevity in business is and I think it is by offering personalized service. I don’t like to rush. I take my time and talk to my clients, putting them at ease and helping them to unwind after a long day. I try to find out what they really need and tailor their experiences to meet their expectations. Listening is most important,” says Francesca, “as well as delivering quality service with quality products. I would never recommend a product that I would not use myself.”
“I can see the landscape is changing,” she admitted. “Even though my clients are predominately women, we are beginning to see more men and they have their own set of needs. More men are scheduling manicures, pedicures, and facials, realizing that personal care are no longer a luxury, but a necessity, especially in business. They want to look good for work and feel good about themselves. ”
“We offer unique spa packages,” Francesca explained. “For example, this past football season we launched ‘Men’s Night Out’. Gentlemen enjoyed their spa treatments while watching the football game. It was tremendous fun and very successful.”
“We also offer children’s birthday parties that cater to the pampering of young ladies. Recently, we had a party, where the mom brought in the birthday cake and we supplied the manicures as well as the birthday trimmings. The event centered around a princess theme, where we provided the tiaras and the girls received manicures, pedicures and full spa treatments. It was a ‘young ladies afternoon out’ and these are becoming very popular,” Francesca explained.
“Not all of my clients can make it to the salon and when they can’t, I have provided services to them at home. Some of them have become homebound and are unable to come out like they used to, so I come to them. They receive the same service they would have in my salon but in the privacy of their own homes,” Francesca explained. “I have visited clients in their offices and have gone to assisted living for clients that have needed me.”
As she describes in her brochure, she has “over 20 years as an established business, she had remained dedicated to providing personalized one-on-one professional consultations, in an impeccably clean and friendly environment. She is committed to making your experience at Francesca’s, one of unlimited luxury for the mind, body and soul in a sanctuary of rejuvenation and wellness with a warm and relaxing atmosphere. To all her clients, longstanding and new, her great appreciation and thanks for you loyalty!”
