Clara Maass Medical Center Names Brian R. Sterling to the Board of Trustees

Sterling is a Principal and Co-Head of the Investment Banking Group of Sandler O'Neill + Partners, L.P.

Brian R. Sterling has been named to the Board of Trustees at Clara Maass Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility.

Sterling is a Principal and Co-Head of the Investment Banking Group of Sandler O’Neill + Partners, L.P., a full-service investment banking firm based in New York. He is responsible for advising banks and other financial institutions on strategic matters, focusing on mergers and acquisitions and financings.

“Mr. Sterling brings both extensive business experience and a strong commitment to community service,” said Robert Gaccione, Chairman of the Clara Maass Medical Center Board of Trustees. “In addition to his ongoing service to Clara Maass Medical Center Foundation Board, we welcome his vision on the hospital Board.”

“My first exposure to Clara Maass Medical Center occurred in 2012 when I became a patient,” said Trustee Sterling. “Even though it was right after Hurricane Sandy and in the midst of a busy weekend, I was incredibly impressed by the top-notch care delivered at this community hospital. Two years later, I was named to the Clara Maass Medical Center Foundation Board of Trustees. Now, in addition to my continued role on the Foundation Board, I consider it a privilege to also become a Member of the Clara Maass Medical Center Board of Trustees.”

Beyond Sterling’s work with Clara Maass, he is involved in a number of volunteer organizations focused on education. He serves on the Finance Committee of KIPP New Jersey, a charter school system based in New Jersey. He is also on the Board of Trustees of New Jersey SEEDS, a non-profit organization that prepares motivated, high-achieving, low-income students for admission to private schools and colleges. In addition, he also serves on the Board of the Yale Law School Fund.

Sterling also serves as a Vice President of the Board of Directors of 70 Faces Media, a not-for-profit digital media company which is the largest and most diverse Jewish media organization in North America.

A native of West Orange, Sterling resides in Montclair. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and received his Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School.
