Corpus Christi Students Help Other Youngsters With Pajama Drive

Students have collected almost 200 pairs and have one week to go.

first graders are once again helping to make bedtime a little more comfortable for children in need by once again conducting a pajama drive in conjunction with Scholastic Book Clubs.

This is the second year that the youngsters are taking part in the Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive, Corpus Christi first grade teacher Michele Donovan explained. The efforts benefit the non-profit organization known as the Pajama Program which provides pajamas and books to children around the country and around the world who are waiting to be adopted. For each pair of pajamas the children collect, Scholastic donates a book.

Last year the students in Donovan and Carroll Carris’ first grade classes brought in 70 pairs of pajamas to donate to this program.

This year they decided to open it up to the entire school and have already collected close to 200 pairs of pajamas, and they still have a week to go, Donovan said. There are two donation boxes located in the two first grade classrooms and they will continue to collect until Nov. 30. They are collecting pajamas of all sizes from newborn to adult.
