Decades of Junior Women's History on Display at the Library

All month long visitors of the can get a special visual lesson on the history of the Junior Women’s Club .

The display cases located in the center of the library are filled with historical memorabilia and collected items of members of the club over a span of a few decades.

According to club historian Nancy Riordan one case is filled with historic items such as a tea set which has been part of the club for more than 40 years, the Member of the Plate which is given to an outstanding member of the Juniors each year. The selected member has her name engraved into the plate and gets to display it in her own home for a year Riordan said.

Other featured items include a small patch quilt which was made by children of Juniors members about 20 years ago, and a tablecloth which Riordan said was first made by a member in the 1960s which has since been signed by members of the Juniors and has had names of members and the year the joined embroidered into the cloth.

The second case  features tea sets which were collected the Junior Women’s Club members which was the theme for this year, Riordan explained.
