District Addresses Issues with New Student Database System
Administrators are working to get all information uploaded by end of the month

School district administrators are still working to get all new data entered into the which launched at the start of this new school year.
Administrators stated during the Board of Education meeting last week that they hoped to get all new data inputted into the new system by Friday, Sept. 23 with the very latest deadline being Sept. 30. Once this process is complete the next step is to upload the demographic information, Dr. Mark Porto, superintendent of schools explained
The new system is up and running however many parents have been experiencing some issues with logging into the system. Porto said some parents were reporting that they had not received log-on information and in some cases student IDs were incorrect.

Porto stated that many email addresses which were originally entered into the old Renweb system were never updated, as that system had never been upgraded.
Porto told parents that he is setting up a system to make it easier for parents to change their email addresses and cell phone numbers which can be checked and updated regularly.

By the end of the month the district wants to test out the which can send emails and text messages to parents alerting them of school closings or in the event of emergencies.
Porto said the technology team is working on it and some of the board members who are tech savvy are assisting with dealing with the issues. The mapping between Renweb and Genesis is not the same and it’s causing problem, he said.
Earlier this year the board decided to make the before they learned that Renweb would no longer support New Jersey school districts.
One parent asked if there is a deadline for when teachers must begin to input grades and homework assignments into the system. Porto said that all teachers should already be putting grades into the new system and that if they have yet their principals should be working with them to make sure they do. In the meantime parents who are not able to access their students grades through the system can contact their teachers.
