DPW Pitches In To Save Money On Mound
DPW mechanic repairs pitchers mound at Depken field saving the borough and BOE from having to replace it.
Team work between the borough’s and the helped get the pitching mound repaired in time for baseball and softball season, and also saved both entities money.
Upon learning the pitchers mound was in need of repair the board of education looked into finding funds for its replacement but was unable to do so during budget discussions, trustee Connie Doheny reported during the meeting last week.
The borough’s DPW stepped in with its mechanic Steve Daus who was able to repair it himself. Councilman David Gonzalez said Daus completed the repairs at the DPW diesel shop saving the cost of $5,000 for new pitchers mound.

Doheny praised Daus for his work and said she hears the mound “is indestructible now.”
