A calendar of this weekend's best bets for all ages in the area

This column brings you the best bets of the weekend for Bergen County. We've assembled a calendar of activities for all ages to keep you entertained.

  • Double Date Night
    Where/When: , 250 Center Ave., Westwood; Friday, April 29 from 5 to 11 p.m.
    Why Go: Last chance to participate in The Melting Pot’s special April promotion. Grab your friends for a night out. A party of four will enjoy a three-course fondue meal for $100. Each meal includes a choice of any signature creamy cheese fondues, choice of salad per person and a fondue style entrée. Mention the promotion when making your reservation.

  • Disney's Imagination Movers
    Where/When: Bergen Performing Arts Center, 30 North Van Brunt St., Englewood; Friday, April 29 at 3:30 and 6:30 p.m.
    Why Go: As seen and heard on PBS and Disney, the Imagination Movers are rising stars in the world of kids entertainment because they brilliantly combine pop music, education and fun! Clad in their trademark blue coveralls, these hard-working entertainers started writing music for their own children and now dazzle families worldwide with high-energy rock and interactive live shows. Ideal for all ages.

  • Rock for Health 2011
    Where/When: Park Ridge Elks Club, 13 Sulak Lane, Park Ridge; Friday, April 29 from 7:30 p.m. to midnight
    Why Go: This fund-raiser presented by PKRG –TV benefits the Tri-Boro Volunteer Ambulance for Park Ridge, Montvale and Woodcliff Lake. Rock out to J20, ScuttleButt and The Unit while enjoying a cash bar and tricky tray.
    Pricing: $10 general admission, $150 for a table of 10.
  • Book Signing with Author Alison Formento
    Where/When:
    Lakeshore Learning Store, Hackensack, Saturday, April 30 at 12 p.m.
    Why Go: Formento, the author of "This Tree Counts," will host a story time and is known to be very interactive with children.
    Pricing: Free.
  • Clean Up Event
    Where/When: Park Ridge Recycling Center, Park Ridge; Saturday, April 30 from 9 a.m. to noon.
    Why Go: Go green and celebrate Mother Earth with this eco-friendly event for all ages. Participate in a town-wide cleanup and a scavenger hunt. The event runs rain or shine.
    Pricing: Free.

  • Mother's Day Craft
    Where/When: Montvale Public Library, 12 Mercedes Drive, Montvale; Saturday, April 30 at 12:30 p.m.
    Why Go: Mother’s Day is next weekend…do you have your gift ready for that special lady in your life? Join the library for a special mother (or grandmother) and child art project. This program is for children in first grade and older.
    Pricing: Free.

  • Gently Used Book Sale
    Where/When: , 605 Pascack Road, Washington Township; Sunday, May 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Monday, May 2 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Tuesday, May 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    Why Go: Fill your shelves for summer reading at the YJCC's annual gently used book sale. Books in good-as-new condition, including adult fiction and non-fiction, both trade paperbacks and hardcover editions, as well as children’s books, are included in the sale. Many recent titles will be available.

  • AnitaLaugh Improv & Sketch Comedy Show
    Where/When: , 55 Jefferson Ave., Westwood; Sunday, May 1 from 7 to 8:15 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.)
    Why Go: AnitaLaugh blends their dead-on celebrity impressions and hilarious characters with audience suggestion to create hysterical improvised scenes. The comedy crew has recently been getting "Charlie Sheen" as a suggestion for their scenes, so they're incorporating him into the mix as well—winning! Audience participation is encouraged.
    Pricing: $8 per person
