HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. — Residents can stay in touch with the latest information from the police department using Nextdoor, a private social network service.
The alert-based system allows public and private organizations and agencies to send out messages to subscribers 24 hours a day, similar to Nixle, another alert based system, but that one is specifically marketed to emergency service agencies.
Patrolman Brian Donohue sent out the first message from the department's account Sunday.
