Hasbrouck Heights Police Return Class Ring To Owner 37 Years After Fire

'I never thought I would ever see it again,' Kenny Panissidi said.

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. — Police returned a class ring that was lost in a fire more than 37 years ago.

In a message posted on the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department's Facebook page, Kenny Panissidi‎ said that he lost his class ring in a fire on Jan. 17, 1979. He was 16.

"I never thoughts I would ever see it again, especially after more than 37 years," Panissidi said.

Detective Sgt. Jeffrey Werner called Panissidi last week, informing him that he had a class ring with his name on it. Wener also had Panissidi's father's confirmation ring from 1947. The rings were placed in a file for safe keeping since the day after the fire, the post said.

Panissidi thanked Werner for finding the rings and returning them to him and his father.

"We both never dreamed of seeing these items again," Panissidi said.
