Hasbrouck Heights Teachers To Get 2.8% Raise This Year: Report

A new three-year contract between the teachers’ union, the Hasbrouck Heights Education Association, and the board was approved last week. The 210 union members will receive a 2.8 percent raise this year and a 2.7 percent raise for both the 2016-17 and 2017-18 school years.

Hasbrouck Heights teachers were accused of “insubordination” by the Board of Education for not showing up for parent-teachers conferences, The Record reported.

The accusations stem from allegations that the teachers did not show up for the conferences because they were protesting a delay in ratifying a new contract until Nov. 12.

The union had accused the school board of unnecessarily postponing approving the contract, which eliminates mandatory parent-teacher conferences for middle and high school parents, the report stated.
