Plant Road Commercial Building Fire Started in Heating Unit
Minimal damage to the building, fire chief says
A fire broke out early Thursday morning in a Plant Road commercial building which lies adjacent to the borough's Department of Public Works.
Hasbrouck Heights Fire Chief Kevin Todd said it is believed that the fire started from the radiating heating unit in the warehouse building of the United Wire Hanger Corp. The fire was controlled by the sprinkler system, Todd said. No one was in the building at the time the fire started, which was shortly before 7 a.m.
Todd said the building sustained minor structural damage, but there was some damage to inventory in the warehouse. The fire was mainly contained in the center of the building.
