Kindergarteners Ready for Next Step in Their Journey

Lincoln School hosts a celebration for the 2011 Kindergarten class

Principal Lesa Brinker told parents and grandparents and siblings of Kindergarteners that this is a time of “new beginnings and the  foundation of all things that are good and sweet and important” as their youngsters say goodbye to Kindergarten preparing to enter the first grade in the fall.

They all gathered in the auditorium Wednesday morning to watch the 72 youngsters perform songs in a program called “Explorers on Safari” in celebration of the students’ completion of their Kindergarten year.

Children sang a selection of safari themed songs like “Jungle Gym” and “Ellie Elephant.” Dr. Mark Porto, superintendent of schools, congratulated the youngsters calling them all future explorers and he reminded parents of the importance of reading encouraging them to take part in the   “By getting them to read in grades Kindergarten and grades one and two, it has a dramatic impact on their futures.
