Last Chance for Taxpayers to Weigh-In on Municipal Budget

Public hearing on proposed budget set to continue at mayor and council meeting Tuesday

Taxpayers may have their last chance to weigh on the proposed municipal budget for 2012 Tuesday when the public hearing on the budget is set to continue.

The $18,281,943 budget has a tax levy of $14,419,262, an increase of about one tax point which is the equivalent of about $35 on the average home valued at $355,000 post re-evaluation.

Mike Kronyak, the borough’s chief financial officer and administrator, reported  that final state approval should be received by May in which case officials can then vote to approve the budget.

Also during the 8 p.m. council meeting tonight, reports on police department, fire department activity, recreation, street and sanitation and finance will be presented by council members and Mayor Rose Heck will present her mayoral report.
