Tree Hit by Lightning Causes Fire to Garage on W-R Side of Lincoln Avenue
Area fire fighters assisted

A fire to a garage on the Wood-Ridge side of Lincoln Avenue on the border of Heights broke out late Thursday night as a result of lightning from the storm.
According to Wood-Ridge Fire Chief Paul Clemente lightning struck a nearby tree causing it to fall setting the garage on fire. The home adjacent to the garage was unharmed.
The fire was under control shortly after fire fighters arrived on the scene. No one was injured but one fire fighter was being treated for heat exhaustion, Clemente said.

Wallington Ladder Truck and Rescue and Moonachie EMS were on hand to assist and one of the chiefs from the Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department came to the scene as well, Clemente said.
