Man Charged In Hasbrouck Heights Sexual Assault

Antwain B. Johnson, 27, was found with a loaded .357-caliber revolver following the alleged assault, authorities said.

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ - A man was accused of sexual assault following a joint investigation into an incident that occurred in the borough Monday, authorities said.

The Hasbrouck Heights Police Department received two phone calls at about 5:20 a.m. Monday from a Stanley Avenue residence regarding an alleged sexual and physical assault of a woman by a male acquaintance, said Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal.

The alleged female victim told police that the man, Antwain B. Johnson, fled the residence in a 2014 black Nissan Altima. The police contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and a joint investigation began, Grewal said.

Montclair police officers saw Johnson’s car near the Orange-Montclair border at about 11:36 a.m. Monday, Grewal said. A fully-loaded .357-caliber revolver was found in the vehicle, authorities said.

Johnson, 27, was arrested and charged with sexual assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, criminal restraint, aggravated assault, and criminal sexual contact, Grewal aid.

Johnson was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail with no 10 percent option. If released on bail, Johnson must wear a GPS monitoring bracelet and remain at home from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
