Municipal Budget Will Collect $35 More From Average Taxpayers
Borough introduces municipal budget for 2013 which has minimal increase for the second year in a row.

The 2013 municipal budget will collect roughly $35 more from the average taxpayer.
The governing body approved the first reading of the budget Tuesday night.
The overall budget in the amount of $18,558,735, is up roughly 1.51 percent from 2012, explained Mike Kronyak, chief financial officer and borough administrator. The tax levy, or amount to collected from taxpayers, increases by roughly $175,000, or 1.26 percent.

The increase amounts to 1 tax point which equals $35 for average homeowners whose property is assessed at $351,1993.
Preliminary budget numbers reported two weeks ago called for a slightly larger tax increase of about $45 per average homeowner but further cuts have since been made since, according to Mayor Rose Heck.

The mayor said she was proud of the minimal increase.
The 2012 budget also took in a minimal increase from taxpayers, also equalling 1 tax point or $35 for the average homeowner.
Presentation on the budget will be given during the public hearing set for April 23.
