PHOTOS: 9/11 Poster Contest Award Winners

All 14 youngsters who entered the 9/11 memorial poster contest received recognition Friday afternoon from members of the Junior Women’s Club and Mayor Rose Heck.

All the kids received a certificate for participating in the contest which was open to children grades K to 12. Entries were judged in three categories: K-4th Grade, 5th-8th Grade and 9th-12th Grade, however entries were not received for grades 9 to 12.

First, second and third place winners in each category received ribbons and Barnes and Nobles gift cards.

Winners of the grades K to 4 category are:
First place - Alexis Mason of Lincoln School
Second place – Daphne Dzugay of Corpus Christi School
Third Place – George Totonjie of Euclid School

Winners of the grades 5 to 8 category are:
First place – Angelica Teresa Colontonio of Corpus Christi School
Second place- Emma Botjer of Hasbrouck Heights Middle School
Third place – John Capozzi of Hasbrouck Heights Middle School

Honorable mentions for category grades K to 4 went to Arvin Ackattapathil, Marisa Ackattapathil, Chiara Alvarez and Mia Botjer all of Lincoln School and Michael Robertson and Thomas Capozzi of Euclid School.

Honorable mentions for the grades 5 to 8 category went to Amanda Botjer and Dennis Riordan of Lincoln School.

Members of the public library staff served as judges, Cindy Capozzi of the Junior Women’s Club said. Posters will be displayed at the library or on some of the shop windows on the Boulevard.

The contest was put together by  the Junior Women’s Club in conjunction with the borough’s 9/11 committee.
