More than 50 girls amongst four area softball teams participated in the first-ever Girls 8U Softball Classic this past Sunday. Hasbrouck Heights hosted this one-day, coach-pitch, round robin tournament for players 8-year-old and under on the Little League field. Joining the Aviators in the class were the Dumont Huskies, Maywood/Rochelle Park Girls Softball and the Rutherford Bulldogs. The day began with a procession of team members and their coaches down to the field followed by opening ceremonies. Each team selected one player to throw out a ceremonial pitch. The day concluded with team trophy presentations.
