PHOTOS: Young Painters Decorate the Boulevard for Halloween

Nearly the entire length of Boulevard was crowded with school children and parents Thursday afternoon as the youngsters took part in a longstanding tradition in Hasbrouck Heights - the Chamber of Commerce annual Halloween window painting contest.

John Kosakowski, owner of , who spearheads the event, said about 350 children from Euclid School, Lincoln School and Corpus Christi School in grades 3 to 5 participated this year and 75 merchants offered up their windows for the contest.

Ray Vorisek of , Chamber of Commerce president, said the event has been going on for more than 25 years. It's the one event that really brings all three elementary schools together.

Kids painted windows from Bank of America all the way down to BeJay Drugs.

All the students received a ribbon for participating and winners will be announced on Friday, Kosakowsi said. Awards are given for first, second and third place in each grade in three categories: Humor, Content and Composition.

Judging is done by students of the middle school and high school.
