The Hasbrouck Heights Meli family were joined by members of the community for the official grand opening of Saturday. Mayor Rose Heck and Councilwoman Pamela Link joined in for the official ribbon cutting ceremony.
The event also featured a booth for Canine Assistants, a non-profit organization which raises and breeds service dogs and alert dogs for children and people with illnesses such as muscular dystrophy or epilepsy. Tom and Michele Meli’s foundation Mickey’s Kids works year round to support Canine Assistants.
The new market, located on the Boulevard at Washington Place, is run by the Melis and several of their family members.
