Police Arrest Borough Female for DWI; Stolen Rental Vehicle Discovered

Passing motorist called in an erratic driver report

arrested a borough resident Tuesday afternoon on DWI charges as the result of an erratic report from a passing motorist.

Lt. Thomas Archer of the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department said  police officers stopped Debra Barksdale ‘s vehicle on the Boulevard  around 1:30 p.m. Feb. 15 after a passing motorist reported that the vehicle left the roadway and drove over a snow a bank at the traffic circle. Police determined that the driver was under the influence. She was brought to headquarters and refused to take the breathalyzer test, Archer said.

In other department activity, police arrested Sean Foster of Teaneck on a unlawful means of conveyance charge for operating a rental vehicle that had been reported stolen, Archer said. Officer John Behr noticed a suspicious vehicle in the area of Pasadena and Terrace Avenue. He ran the plate number and found the vehicle had been reported stolen.

Archer explained that because the vehicle was a rental that had not been returned by the operator, the charges were downgraded from possession of stolen property.
