Police Arrest Man on Burglary Charge Thanks to Witness Reporting a Suspicous Incident
Caller witnessed a man coming in and out of Walter Avenue apartment window

UPDATED 2:47 p.m. - Hasbrouck Heights police were able to catch a burglary suspect Friday night thanks to the quick action of a witness who called in to report a suspicious incident.
David McCoy of Englewood was charged with burglary and criminal mischief, Captain John DeLorenzo of the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department confirmed.
The police botter stated the department received a call about 12:23 a.m. Friday from a witness who claimed to have seen a male wearing a camouflage jacket enter a window of an apartment on Walter Avenue and also witnessed the man come out carrying a red backpack.
Officers James Loos and Brian Donohue located McCoy on Hamilton Avenue just immediately after the report came in, confirmed DeLorenzo. Investigation revealed a burglary was commited. He was also charged with criminal mischief due to property damage and forcible entry.
McCoy was brought to headquarters and then transported to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack.
DeLorenzo said this was not a random burglary as McCoy formerly lived in the apartment he allegedly broke into. It is not believed this incident is any relation to the reported from December to January.
