Police Continue to Investigate Recent Burglaries, Advise Residents to be Cautious
A number of smash and grab burglaries took place in one month's period.

officials continue to investigate a number of burglaries which took place over the past month and continue to remind residents to lock their doors and windows and report suspicious activity.
Councilman Justin DiPisa, who serves as police commissioner, shared the recent activity report of the police department Tuesday night which included Heights police officials recent meeting with the South Bergen detective group to compare occurrences and trends in recent commercial burglaries as part of the ongoing investigation.
In mid October Heights police investigated a which took place to four shops along the Boulevard. Police reported that similar incidents took place that same Oct. 9 morning in Little Ferry and Moonachie which could possibly have been linked due to the close proximity

In recent weeks two residential burglaries took place according to police blotter reports - Nov. 15 on Franklin Avenue and another Nov. 18 on Division Avenue.

DiPisa pointed out that these burglaries are taking place due to a depressed economy. In addition to keeping doors and windows locked, he reminded residents that state police are also advising all to take caution when shopping at malls. People should be sure to lock items, especially gift wrapped, in the trunk and not leave them visible in their vehicles as many thefts to vehicles have occurred in shopping malls.
