Police Remind Residents to Be Cautious After Recent Burglaries
In the latest incident, police arrested a man for allegedly entering cars on Harrison Avenue and stealing items inside.

Police are reminding residents to lock their cars and keep lights on in homes when away for long stretches of time as a precaution due to recent burglaries in the borough and surrounding areas.
Over the past two months, has been investigating a handful of at local businesses and three residential burglaries.
In the latest incident, Paul Killoran was arrested Nov. 30 on burglary and theft charges after he was caught entering three vehicles on Harrison Avenue, Captain Jack Delorenzo said. A resident of Harrison Avenue saw a man entering vehicles in driveways and reported the incident to police. Officer Joseph Armeli arrived on the scene to find Killoran allegedly exiting a vehicle with a bag of items, Delorenzo said. The incident took place just after 6 a.m. he said.

Killoran, who is from Long Island but has been staying in Hasbrouck Heights, was arrested on burglary to auto charges in September, according to Delorenzo, and had just been released from jail the day before his latest arrest.
The captain pointed out that the vehicles were not broken into as all the doors were left unlocked. He warned residents to lock the windows and doors of their vehicles to prevent any further incidents.

Delorenzo said similar incidents, including burglaries to homes, vehicles and businesses, have occurred throughout the county the last few months.
The number of incidents in Heights is about even with nearby towns, Delorenzo said. , police officials said.
