SCORE Bergen Offers Course on Starting a Business

The non-profit group is running a five week course for people interested in starting their own small business

SCORE Bergen is offering "Simple Steps," a five-session weekly series of workshops for people interested in starting a small business.

Simple Steps will be presented on five consecutive Monday evenings, starting Feb. 28. This series of workshops can also help those who have already started their business.

Simple Steps will be held at the Maywood Public Library from 7  to 10 p.m. on consecutive Mondays from Feb. 28 to March 28. The cost of the program is $125.

For those interested in becoming entrepreneurs, the workshops will help develop their business concept and marketing plan. In the final two sessions, attendees will evaluate the financial risks and rewards of their business concepts.

SCORE Bergen is the local chapter of SCORE, a non-profit national organization made up of more 10,500 volunteers dedicated to helping emerging and existing small businesses by providing free, confidential, professional business counseling and low-fee workshops, according to their website.

Registration can also be done online at the SCORE Bergen web site.

SCORE Bergen counselors, who are experienced mentors, will help attendees take the information learned from Simple Steps and expand on it in one-on-one sessions at the SCORE office in Paramus.  Clients can schedule as many sessions as they need after the Simple Steps program.  Counseling sessions are offered every Friday from 9 to 10:30  a.m. or 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
