Seniors Will Ride to Prom on Buses This Year to Save on Costs

Parents can come to the high school to see the kids off and take advantage of the photo opportunity

Several factors were important to Erin Schneeweiss, this year’s senior class advisor, when it came to making sure the members of the senior class would get the most enjoyable experience out of their senior prom. She wanted to keep costs low, keep kids safe and make sure they have a wonderful time.

This year, instead of groups of seniors renting limousines or town cars which is most times a customary way of heading to prom, prom-goers will all travel together as one group via buses. Schneeweiss said she got three Coach buses to take them all together as she wanted to help keep costs low for the students so they have money to spend on other needs.

“I wanted them to have this wonderful experience without it costing them a fortune,” said Schneeweiss adding that this was not meant to offend limosuine companies at all.

By going in a group, all the kids can have more time to spend together, and enjoy the bonding  experience. It also makes it easier for them to get to the prom which is at the Skylands Manor in Ringwood, located near the New Jersey Botanical Gardens which Schneeweiss pointed out is “absolutely gorgeous.”

The kids will be seated on the buses in order of the tables they will sit at during prom, which Schneeweiss said opens up a good opportunity for kids to interact, especially if some don’t know each other so well.

Also Schneeweiss said parents are welcome to join their kids by the high school at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 16 as the kids get ready to board the buses for prom. This gathering opens the door to great photo opportunities for friends and families before the prom.

The theme for the prom this year is “A Fairytale Ending” and Schneeweiss added that  this class "is such a great group of kids" and she has really enjoyed working with them this year.
