Special Education Director Search Continues; Next Forum set for April 13

Board is still interviewing candidates who will meet with special education committee

The search for a new special education director to replace Andrea Freeman who will leave the district at the end of the school year is still ongoing according to Dr. Mark Porto, superintendent of schools.

The board expects to host another community outreach forum featuring the final two candidates April 13.

When the topic was raised during Wednesday night’s budget hearing, Porto said they were still interviewing a number of candidates for the position. The next step will be to bring them before the special education committee made up of board of education members.

Back in February the board brought two candidates who were being considered for the position in front of the community before making thier final decision. However the its search as a result of the  feedback from the public.
