Students Excel at Recent Model UN Event

High School Social Studies teacher Mike Warren recently presented a trophy to six high school students for their achievements in the recent Model UN event at Bergen Academies.

Each student earned a top-three award in the recent event. The students are Lee Ciocia, Thomas Pellegrino, Quinn Roshandel, Sherrin Shetty and Meredith Stroud.

In addition to the students individual achievements the team was also recognized as the best small group delegation of all the schools in the competition with less than 10 competitors, Warren said during a presentation at a recent board of education meeting.

“We didn’t know exactly what to expect going in but every week we tried to prepare the best we could, playing games, trying to assimilate the strategy needed,” said team leader Lee Ciocia.

"We didn't expect to win. We were novices but we came out and performed well," he said.
